Here’s something I genuinely never accepted until I had passed the age of 30: We create that which we choose.
Again… We create that which we choose.
Another way: We create whatever we choose to create.
Or another: What we choose to create, we create.
Now, that being said, it does not necessarily mean that throughout our entire lives we are completely present to what it is that we are creating. There’s a Sam Harris book that I loved reading strictly because it caused you to think and caused you to look at life differently, it’s called “Free Will”. If you’ve never read it, I suggest you do if for no other reason than to mess with your thinking a bit get you present to what possibilities there may be for you out there in the World.
Getting back to what I started this chapter on, the point I am making here is that you have the ability within yourself to cause anything. Literally ANYTHING. The truth though is that we get so caught up in emotions, thought patterns and internal beliefs that we don’t experience the power of creating our lives. The real power though is when we set all of that garbage aside, and can see ourselves as being capable of whatever it is that we want. If you want to become a lawyer we know that it’s a requirement you attend post secondary and eventually make your way through law school. We know that’s the path, we all have access to it, it’s just a matter of choice to whether we seek solutions to accomplish that. It’s really that simple. Sure you can say that money is a barrier or your location is a barrier but that is not accurate at all. You saying that these are barriers, is what the barrier is. If you stopped saying those were barriers, they wouldn’t exist as barriers. It’s seriously that simple.
Life is about choice. I’m asking you in this moment, what are you choosing for yourself?
