Friday morning thoughts

I think what makes any attempt at writing difficult is that there is this reality that even though you say you don’t care what other people think and that you’re writing for yourself and to share your thoughts, experiences, etc… The reality is that other people are going to read it and they will have opinions and judgements and issues with the things you have to say. And though that is nothing new to me, I do want to be conscious of how I communicate thoughts so if something comes across a bit ‘off’, just tell me!

Naturally there will be people who read this and think I’m an idiot who makes bad choices. And that’s a somewhat accurate opinion, but I’d say those idiot-moments are temporary and for the most part do not make up the person that I am today aside from being a piece to the puzzle of my history. I should also state now that though I have moments where I think “whyyyyy did I do that!”…. I have zero regrets. I am eternally grateful for every lesson learned on my journey thus far. I may only be in my 30s, but this little life of mine has been an interesting one.

I’ve noticed this sentiment lately with those who share their voice, that we are crying out to be heard by others and there is an air of desperation for the message to land, for people to interact and for some form of validation to exist. What occurs to me is that we shouldn’t be seeking that. We should be seeking the authenticity to share our truth, no matter if our audience is nil or a million. Focus on the impact your words / thoughts have on yourself and the rest will come. The key is that authenticity. Speaking truth because it’s empowering to release yourself to the world.

Consider this: when you’re feeling caged, upset, emotional or just stuck… Have you experienced the release that comes from sharing what’s going on in your world, with another human? The act of sharing causing a shift to occur where you are no longer suffering alone in silence and THAT is powerful AF.

It’s the same when it comes to writing…. You share and through that act of sharing you gain clarity, freedom and the experience of self-expression. So what are you waiting for? Share!
